Police Hunting £9,000 Handbag Thief

Police have released this CCTV image of a suspected thief after a handbag containing £9,000 worth of jewellery was snatched from a parked car.

Detectives from Croydon Borough wish to identify and speak to the man in connection with the incident.

On Monday, February 15 police were called at around 3.45pm to a report of a theft from a motor vehicle in Tudor Close, Coulsdon.

The theft was reported to have occurred at some point between midnight on Friday, February 12 and 10.00am on Sunday February 14.

The handbag was taken out of the boot of the owners' car, which was parked on the road.

Also in the stolen bag were a number of bank cards, which were later used by a man to purchase goods from a store on South Norwood Hill on February 14.

CCTV captured the man in the store.

The man is described as black and wearing a dark baseball cap worn back to front, a dark jacket and a grey hooded top.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may recognise the man shown on CCTV.
