Teen Drink-Driver Caught In Early Hours

A teenage drink-driver's budding mechanic's career may be over before it has started after police caught him over the limit while speeding through the City of London in the middle of the night.

Jobless Dorian Brown, 18, of St. George's Close, South Lambeth, was slapped with a one-year road ban, preventing him getting behind the wheel of a car for the next 12 months and fined him £100, with £90 costs.

He pleaded guilty at City of London Magistrates' Court (pictured) to driving his silver Peugeot 206 with excess alcohol in his breath in Old Broad Street on February 7.

The court heard it was 3.55am when police spotted Brown driving at "excessive speed" and pulled him over.

They smelled alcohol on him and he failed a roadside breath test.

At Bishopsgate Police Station he gave an alcohol reading of 55. The legal limit is 35.

"I'm really sorry. I was going to do an apprenticeship in motor vehicle mechanics," Brown told the court.
