Boxing Day Sales Murder: Eleven Arrested


Post-Christmas West End bargain-hunters were plunged into shocking Boxing Day gang violence, which saw a teenager fatally stabbed in a busy Oxford Street sports shop.

Seydou Diarrassouba, 18, (pictured) from Mitcham, South-West London died from a single stab wound to the heart inflicted inside Footlocker today at 1:45pm.

Ambulances and the Air Ambulance helicopter rushed to the scene, but Seydou was pronounced dead at the scene, near the junction with Stratford Place.

The Homicide and Serious Crime Command opened an incident room at Lewisham Police Station.

Detective Superintendent John Sweeney said: “Our sympathy goes to the family of the victim at this time and we are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

“We know there were a number of people filming the incident inside
Footlocker and may have captured the incident or its aftermath and we are appealing for these people to contact us.”

Eleven people – a sixteen year-old; three seventeen year-olds; five nineteen year-olds and two twenty-two year-old have been arrested.
