Doctor In Court Charged With Sex Assaults On Six Females At Two Hospitals

A doctor, accused of sexually assaulting six different females at two south-east London hospitals over a four-year period, appeared in court for the first time today.

Dr. Mahesh Vidyadhar Patwardhan, 52, of Alderton Hill, Loughton, Essex also faces an additional count in relation to an alleged insurance fraud.

He appeared at Bromley Magistrates Court who bailed him until November 20 for a preliminary hearing at Woolwich Crown Court.

Dr. Patwardhan faces three charges of sexual assault at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich on dates between July 2, 2008 and September 24, 2012.

He also faces three identical charges relating to Blackheath Hospital on dates between February 14, 2011 and August 31, 2012.

Dr. Patwardhan is additionally charged with fraud by false representation between February 14 and June 3, 2011 by submitting fraudulent invoices to AXA PPP insurance, intending to make a gain, namely £1195.

The court heard the fraud charge involved an allegation of claiming money for a treatment he did not perform.
