Hotel Manager Nicked Thousands

Coulsdon Manor Hotel
A hotel manger yesterday admitted helping himself to nearly £40,000 in just three months.

James Hughes, 40, of Orchard Way, Helmsley, York appeared for the first time at Croydon Magistrates' Court.

He was employed at Coulsdon Manor Hotel, Coulsdon.

Hughes pleaded guilty to theft by employee between December 18, 2019 and March 14, last year, namely £39,813.48p belonging to the Bespoke Hotel Group.

The court heard he had access to safe keys, where cash was held at the hotel.

It is the second time Hughes has been caught taking money from a hotel he was employed at and he was bailed to appear at Swansea Crown Court on May 19 to be sentenced for both offences together.
