Non League Footballer Drove Merc While Banned

A popular non league footballer, who squeezed university studies between stints with multiple teams, has been banned for driving his Mercedes while disqualified.

Ola Sogbanmu, 30, has made appearances for Carshalton Athletic; Woking FC; Wingate & Finchley FC and ironically the Metropolitan Police amongst others

A versatile player, Sogbanmu, of Coppin House, Tulse Hill, south London has played as a box-to-box midfielder; centre-forward and centre-half during his footballing career.

He appeared at Croydon Magistrates Court, where he pleaded guilty to driving his black Mercedes A Class, while disqualified, along Camberwell New Road on February 24.

Sogbanmu also pleaded guilty to driving without insurance on the same occasion.

He was fined £164, with £85 costs and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge.

He was disqualified from driving for nine months and the court ordered him to remain disqualified until he passes a driving test.
