Mobile Phone Robber Threatened Train Passengers With Walking Stick

Two train passengers were threatened with a metal walking stick, with one of them robbed of their mobile phone, while travelling between two Essex stations.

The victims, a man in his twenties and his female companion, were travelling between Tilbury Town and Pitsea stations at approximately 11.40pm on Saturday, August 26.

Four males had boarded the train at Tilbury Town and one of them approached the victims.

He threatened them with the walking stick and the young man handed over his phone before leaving the train at Stanford-le-Hope Railway Station.

Three 17-year-old boys have been arrested for robbery and released on bail.

British Transport Police (BTP) officers believe the man in the CCTV image may have information that could help with their investigation.

Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016, or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 636 of the 26 August.

Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
