Octogenarian Targeted By Burglar: CCTV Image Released

Police are hunting this suspected burglar, who targeted an octogenarian woman in south-east London.

The raider, who forced his way through the 83 year-old pensioner's front door, pretended he was seeking work when discovered.

He struck at 8,45pm on June 19 at an address in the Cray Valley West area of Orpington, Bromley.

The victim was in her home address when she heard a bang and was then confronted by a male.

The suspect spoke to her and asked: “Do you want any work done?” 

The victim said no, and the suspect left the address.

No arrests have been made.

The suspect is described as a white male, of a skinny build with balding, brown/ginger hair. 

He was wearing a light brown jacket, jeans, blue cleaning gloves and a face mask.

Detective Constable Ben Briselden of Bromley CID, who is leading the investigation, has said: “We have today released CCTV footage of a man I wish to speak to in connection to the burglary and I am appealing for the public’s help to identify his whereabouts.”

Late-Night Knifeman Locked-Up

A knifeman, who stabbed his victim multiple times during an early hours attack – almost killing him – has been jailed for 14 years and 1 month.

Duclant Tampawo, 30, approached the 49 year-old victim at 3.00am and after a short conversation the pair walked to a churchyard alleyway, where the violent attack occurred.

The blade was plunged into the victim four times – leaving him in an induced coma.

Tampawo, of Lansdowne, Hackney pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm in nearby Ashanti Mews on March 24, last year.

He was sentenced at the Old Bailey, where he was also ordered to remain on licence for an additional three years after his release. 

Detective Constable Ben Stone, who led the investigation said: “Tampawo carried out a brutal attack, stabbing the victim multiple times, which caused significant internal damage, and left him bleeding on the ground.

“He has never explained the reasons for this assault, which left the victim in a critical condition and requiring extensive hospital treatment for a number of months.

“He is clearly a dangerous offender and we are pleased he is now behind bars.”

At around 3.15am on March 24, last year police were called to reports of a man with multiple stab wounds in Lower Clapton Road, Hackney.

The victim told emergency services he had been attacked in nearby Ashanti Mews, a small alleyway bordering a churchyard.

He quickly lost consciousness and was taken to hospital in a critical condition. 

After undergoing a number of operations, he was placed into an induced coma for several weeks.

Officers from Central East CID launched an investigation and immediately found a red bag in the alleyway, which contained a bloodied black knife.

CCTV showed Tampawo cycling along the footpath in nearby Mare Street at around 3.00am, before chaining up his bike.

He walked along Narrow Way, where he approached the victim sitting on a bench and engaged him in conversation, beckoning him to follow him. 

The pair walk towards the alleyway and around 90 seconds later Tampawo is captured on CCTV running back along Lower Clapton Road.

He was later seen on camera close to a hostel on Lansdowne Drive.

When police attended the hostel to view their CCTV, Tampawo was identified as entering the hostel at around 3.30am on the day of the attack.

While officers were still at the venue, Tampawo returned to the building and was immediately arrested.

Premier League footballer Jordon Ibe has been caught flouting the driving ban he received for crashing into a coffee shop while at the wheel of a £133,000 Bentley.

This time the 24 year-old ex-Liverpool and Bournemouth winger was caught driving a blue Range Rover, just seven weeks into the sixteen-month disqualification.

He appeared at Bromley Magistrates Court today, where he was fined £1,000, plus £85 costs and banned for eighteen months.

Ibe, of Bonham House, Westerham Road, Keston pleaded guilty to driving in Edgington Way, Bexleyheath, while disqualified, on April 22.

He also pleaded guilty to driving without insurance.

Once a £15m signing for the Cherries, Ibe is currently out of contract and looking for a new club after the south coast outfit declined to extend his lucrative deal.

Last March Ibe was banned, fined £7,500 and placed on a 12-month Community Order after pleading guilty to careless driving and being convicted of failing to stop after the late-night crash.

The court heard on that occasion how Ibe demolished the front of The Pantry coffee shop when he lost control of the powerful 4x4 at 4.50am.

At the time he lived in a £1.1m six-bedroom detached house at 63c Haven Road, Poole, Dorset. 

The July 30, 2019 crash in Plaistow Lane, Bromley also resulted in damage to a parked black Mercedes-Benz.

Prosecutor Mr. George Crivelli told the court Ibe waited at the scene of destruction only four minutes before reversing his 187mmph white Bentley Bentayga luxury SUV and driving away.

“He caused such damage that the front had to be razed (corr) from the foundations and was rendered unsafe. He left part of his car inside the shop.”

The Bermondsey-born winger joined AFC Bournemouth in 2016 from Liverpool for a then club record of £15m.

He has represented England at U-18, U-19, U-20 and U-21 level. 

“The Crown say in Plaistow Lane, Bromley Mr. Ibe was the driver of a white Bentley Bentayga. At around 4.50am the defendant was involved in a collision,” explained Mr. Cravelli.

“His vehicle has left the road, collided with a parked car and crashed into the shop front.

“It is said to have remained there a short time and then reversed and left the scene.

“The actions of the defendant have not been to the required standard expected of someone driving on the road. He has not waited at the scene.”  

Ibe argued he waited ten minutes at the scene, but there was nobody to exchange details with, a claim disputed by the police, who responded immediately to a 999 call.

“Police were at the location in four minutes and he had already left the scene.”  

The damage was reportedly approximately £15,000 and cafe owner Sarah Dickson only discovered the destruction the following day.

“In her statement she says she was at the shop at midday the next day and nobody had left a note,” said Mr. Cravelli.

The once £38,000-a-week forward failed to impress at Bournemouth since his big-money transfer, making a total of 92 appearances in all competitions and only scoring 5 goals.

Last season he made just two brief substitute appearances in the Premier League and featured in two League Cup games.

Female Passenger Assaulted At Kentish Town Underground: Suspect Wanted

Specialist transport police are hunting this suspect after a woman was assaulted while getting off a tube train.

British Transport Police (BTP) have released this CCTV image as they continue trying to identify the man.

The female passenger was departing a Northern Line Underground train at Kentish Town station at 1.45pm on Thursday July 9.

She reported that she was assaulted by a mystery male to the BTP. 

Officers would like to speak to the man in the images who may have information that could help their investigation.

Teenage Girl kidnapped For Oyster Top-Top: Man Wanted

Police are hunting this passenger after a teenage girl was forced to top-up his Oyster card and board a tube train with him.

British Transport Police (BTP) have released this CCTV image as they continue investigating the suspected robbery and kidnapping at Waterloo station on Wednesday July 1.

The victim, aged in her late teens, was approached by a man at Waterloo station at around 2:30pm.

The man initially asked for help, but then proceeded to follow the female when she ignored him. 

He then grabbed her arm, brought the victim to a ticket machine and made her purchase a top-up for his Oyster card.

He then forced her to board a Jubilee line to Westminster Tube station, where the victim was able to alert station staff between 3:45pm and 3:50pm. 

As she did this the suspect walked away and exited the station.

Officers believe the man in the CCTV images may have information that could help their investigation.

Train Shunt: Shoulder Fracture After Passenger Push

Police are hunting this train passenger after a fellow-commuter was shoved off a train, fracturing his shoulder.

British Transport Police have released this CCTV image following a report of an assault at King's Cross station in central London.

The incident happened on platform 8 between 8pm and 8.15pm on Sunday 8 December, last year.

The victim was pushed to the platform by another man as he left the train.

He suffered a fractured shoulder.

Officers would like to speak to the man in the images who may have information that could help their investigation.

Shotgun Drugs Villain Caged After Police Raid

Police seized a sawn-off shotgun, cartridges, a pistol, cocaine and steroids when they raided the home of a Southall man now starting a six-year prison sentence.

Marcus Mascall, 31, was arrested in the early hours of January 11 by officers from the Metropolitan Police's South West Basic Command Unit.

He was sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court for possession of a prohibited shotgun; possession of ammunition whilst prohibited; possession of cocaine and possession of steroids.

It was 3.35am when the search warrant was executed under Section 46 of the Firearms Act. 

A sawn-off shotgun, 90 cartridges and a blank firing Glock were found in ceiling panels in a communal corridor outside the address. 

The drugs were also found at the address.

He was charged and remanded to court on the same day.

Trident detectives from Specialist Crime investigated and DNA and fingerprint evidence were later attributed to Mascall.

Detective Constable Kai Murray said: “This operation led to firearms and ammunition being taking off the streets of London. 

“I have no doubt that the firearms recovered would have been used to cause serious or even fatal injuries.

“Firearms have absolutely no place on our streets and the removal of these makes London a safer place for all”.

Bizarre Silver Wig-Wearing "Sexual Predator" Convicted

A sexual predator, who donned a long silver wig and mini dress before chasing an 18 year-old female student, has been convicted of molesting her.

Mark Brown, 30, of Newington Green, Islington was found guilty of sexual assault following a trial at Wood Green Crown Court.

He will be sentenced at the same court on Friday, August 14.

The court heard that shortly before 3.55am on September 20, last year the victim jogged past Brown’s home address.

She had spent that evening out with friends at a nightclub and was hurrying home.

Brown spotted the victim go by and wearing the short dress and leather jacket he dashed out of his flat in a mad rush to catch her – putting on a long silver wig as he ran.

He caught up with the victim after following her for about 500m.

The victim was unaware of anyone following her until Brown placed his hand on her shoulder. 

Before she had a chance to turn around to see who it was, she was sexually assaulted.

The victim tried to push him away and shouted at her attacker, but she was pushed to the floor. 

She continued kicking and screaming, but she had her eyes closed. 

Silver Server: Brown Faces Imprisonment

When she opened her eyes Brown had fled and she only saw him running off in the distance, noticing he had long silver hair.

The victim immediately called the police and was supported by specialist officers.

Detectives began a fast-paced investigation to locate the suspect and carried out a number of enquiries – including working in partnership with Islington Council to extensively review CCTV.

Officers found chilling CCTV footage showing Brown sprint from his home address after the victim, before undeniably following her – staying a few feet behind her until the attack.

The footage also showed Brown without the wig on.

Brown was arrested and charged on October 5.

During his police interview he was shown the CCTV footage and a still of him without the wig on – but he denied it was him and said he believed it was a woman. 

When asked about the wig, Brown initially responded with ‘no comment,’ before telling officers that he had bought it for a fancy dress party, but he ‘threw it out ages ago'.

The court heard Brown has previously been convicted of seven counts of sexual touching and is on the Sex Offender’s Register. 

He breached his licence conditions, which prohibit him being outside between 10.00pm and 8.00am.

Detective Constable Giash Uddin from Central East’s Safeguarding team, said:“Brown is a dangerous, sexual predator and I am pleased that the jury agreed with the overwhelming evidence we gathered against him.

“Brown was lying in wait, in disguise, ready to pounce on his unsuspecting victim. 

“He has refused to admit his guilt throughout and forced his victim to re-live her traumatic ordeal by going to trial.

“I’d like to praise the victim for her courage and cooperation throughout our investigation. 

“I hope that Brown being brought to justice will give her a small measure of comfort and closure. 

“I’d also like to thank Islington Council for their help with the extensive CCTV enquiries we carried out which identified Brown as the suspect and ultimately saw him get convicted for this heinous crime”.

Serial Brixton Flasher Terrorised Female Commuters

A serial flasher, who exposed himself to women at bus stops and outside Brixton Underground Station while playing with himself, has pleaded guilty.

Leslie Malcolm, 55, of Farley Road, Catford appeared at the Inner London Crown Court and admitted eight counts of exposure.

The offences were reported between December, 2019 and May, 2020 in various places in Brixton, including bus stops and outside the tube station.

On each occasion, Malcom would approach women, some of whom were waiting for buses, and he would expose his genitals. 

Often he would make eye contact with them as he touched himself inappropriately.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police's Roads and Transport Policing Command picked up the investigation, quickly identifying Malcom as the suspect. 

On June 1, officers arrested Malcom at his home address. 

When he was talking with officers after he was detained, he said: “You know, it’s not like I weren’t expecting you”.

He will be sentenced at the same court on Tuesday, September 1.

Detective Sergeant Okikiola Okunola from the Roads and Transport Policing Command, said: “I would firstly like to thank each victim for reporting Malcom’s quite frankly disgusting and perverse behaviour to police. 

“Because of them and the support they’ve have shown the investigation, we were able to bring Malcolm to justice.

“Thanks to some of the victims’ evidence as well as the forensic evidence left at one scene by Malcom, he had no choice but to plead guilty to the eight offences”.

Siwan Hayward, TfL’s Director of Policing, said: “No one should experience unwanted sexual behaviour on our transport network and we are determined to stamp it out. 

“We were absolutely disgusted to hear of these incidents in Brixton and commend the victims for their bravery in coming forward to report them.

“We welcome Malcolm’s conviction and hope it sends a strong message that abuse won’t be tolerated. 

“All reports of unwanted sexual behaviour are taken extremely seriously and fully investigated, so offenders can be caught and brought to justice”.

Spark Out: Internet Pervert's Second KO

An online pervert has been caught flouting a suspended prison sentence by downloading sick images of children again.

Martin Sparks, 47, of Maldon Walk, Redbridge, had over 200 indecent images at his home when police raided his address.

He pleaded guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court to five counts of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), making indecent images of children (category A) and making indecent images of children (category B).

He will be sentenced at the same court on Wednesday, August 26.

On Thursday, June 18, officers from the Metropolitan Police's Specialist Crime Command executed a search warrant at Sparks’ home.

They had intelligence that indecent images of children had been downloaded at the address via peer-to-peer (p2p) software.

Sparks was convicted on June 26, 2018 of making indecent images of children. 

He received two years’ imprisonment, suspended for two years, and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) until “further order” on this date.

When officers carried out the warrant last month, Sparks initially denied any knowledge of illegal online activity, but when he was questioned further he admitted breaches of his SHPO and having downloaded and viewed child abuse images.

Sparks committed five SHPO breaches.

During the search of his address, officers seized a computer tower, which Sparks used to download the illegal images – this related to three of the breaches.

Officers also found an electronic tablet, which was a breach due to it not being declared to his Public Protection Unit manager.

The remaining breach was for connecting to the home’s router to use the internet when he downloaded the images.

Sparks was taken to an east London police station. 

When searched in custody, two USB digital storage devices were found in his shoes.

A total of 233 category A child abuse videos and 17 category B ones were found on the USBs.

Sparks told officers that when he heard officers enter the address, he went to hide the USBs and decided to put them in his shoes and put his shoes on. 

Detective Constable James Cavenham said: “Sparks is now facing time behind bars after committing the same hideous offence once again. 

“The evidence we gathered against him meant he had no option but to plead guilty.

"Although this is not a contact offence, every single image contains a child who is a victim of an appalling crime and when people like Sparks seek these images out, they continue to generate a market for this type of abuse.

“The Met will continue to relentlessly pursue and bring to justice those who download online images of child sexual abuse.”

Boozy Bus Driver In Midnight Crash

A double decker bus driver crashed into a brick wall and was found slumped over the steering wheel after drinking a bottle of vodka, a court heard today.

Christopher Wattam, 35, was twice the drink-drive limit during the midnight collision while operating the route 131 bus, which fortunately had no passengers on board.

He received twelve weeks imprisonment, suspended for twelve months and was banned from the roads for thirty-four months.

Wattam, of Aragon Road, Morden pleaded guilty to driving the bus in Worple Road, Colliers Wood on April 12 with excess alcohol in his breath.

He had 69 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Wimbledon Magistrates Court heard it was approximately eight minutes past midnight when police were called to reports of a crash involving a bus.

On arrival they saw the double-decker had collided with a wall outside a block of flats, scattering bricks and rubble around the vehicle.

There was damage to the bus, particularly the front bumper on the drivers’ side and the windscreen was shattered.

Paramedics attended to Wattam, who was slumped over the wheel and threw up.

He later admitted he had consumed a bottle of vodka.

The court heard Wattam was anxious about driving and dealing with passengers during the COVID 19 pandemic, but was making progress with his issues.

A spokesperson for his employer Go-Ahead London confirmed Wattam was sacked five days after the incident and a report sent to the Traffic Commissioner.

Post Office Staff Chase Away Wannabe Armed Robber: Bike Bandit Hunted

Police are hunting this failed post office robber, who was chased away by staff not impressed by the unrealistic firearm he tried to hold them up with.

Police were called at 3.22pm on Thursday, June 25 to reports of the attempted armed robbery at a the post office on Jollys Lane, Hayes, west London.

Thankfully no one was injured during the incident.

Officers attended and were told that the suspect had been loitering around the location from about 2.00pm that day.

At about 3.00pm, the suspect entered the premises and asked for stamp prices. 

He then returned to the post office about 20 minutes later and produced a suspected handgun, which he pointed at staff and demanded cash.

Suspecting it was an imitation firearm, staff bravely chased the suspect out of the premises and nothing was taken.

The suspect fled the scene - on a pedal cycle - behind the shops in the direction of Acer Avenue.

He is described as a white male, aged in his late teens, about 5ft 10ins tall, with blond hair. 

He was wearing matching black tracksuit top and trousers with a pattern down the right lower leg and right sleeve. 

He had his hood up and was wearing a balaclava and gloves. 

He also had a dark green rucksack.

Detectives from the Flying Squad are leading the investigation and have released images of the suspect. 

They are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Constable Andy Reason said: “Thankfully no one was injured during the incident, and nothing was taken, but this could have easily played out very differently.

“The suspect produced a suspected firearm during the incident and it is therefore vital that we apprehend him as soon as possible before he commits any further crimes. 

“We are therefore calling on the public to assist us.

“If anyone has any information at all regarding this incident, no matter how insignificant you think it is, please contact us as a matter of urgency. 

“Any information you provide will be treated in the strictest confidence.

OAP Mugged For Bank Cash: Two Suspects Wanted

Police are hunting these two suspects after an octogenarian bank customer was deliberately targeted for a large amount of cash he had just withdrawn.

Officers from the South East Command Unit have released the images of the two men they wish to speak to in relation to the Greenwich robbery.

Police were called at 11.47am on Wednesday, March 13 to Anglesea Road, Woolwich to reports of a robbery.

On arrival, police found the victim, a man aged in his 80s, who had been assaulted and had money taken from him. 

He has since made a full recovery.

The victim had gone to a bank in Victory Parade, to withdraw some money and had travelled on a Route 469 bus.

The images show two men police would like to speak to who were on the bus with the victim.

The two men are described as being in their late thirties, Eastern European, and wearing dark blue jeans and white trainers.

Detective Constable Kate Bennett, who is leading the investigation, said: “This was a callous attack on a vulnerable, elderly man, who was left with pain in his back and a significant amount of money stolen from him. 

“We are keen to speak to these two men to establish what happened.

“If you have any information which could help us identify these two individuals please call police on 101. 

“This elderly gentleman deserves your help to catch them. 

“No one should have to endure an intimidating and terrifying attack such as this.”

Betts Park Shooting: Murder Investigation Continues

Police are still hunting for those responsible for the fatal shooting of a 43 year-old man, who was fatally wounded walking through a local park in the early hours.

Police were called by London Ambulance Service at around 2.20am on Sunday, July 12 to Dean Edwards, 43, collapsed in Croydon Road, Penge in the entrance to Betts Park.

Officers attended the location where a he was pronounced dead at the scene.

He lived nearby in the South Norwood area.

Detectives are appealing for information from anyone that lives near the Betts Park area or the surrounding area who heard anything in the early hours of Sunday, 12 July – particularly between 0.15am and 01.00am.

At this stage, Dean is thought to have been walking through Betts Park and was about to leave via the Croydon Road exit next to The Mitre pub, when he was shot in the back of his head.

There have been no arrests.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Kate Kieran, said:“We are in the early stages of investigating the murder and are working hard to piece together what happened on the night that lead to Dean losing his life in such a horrific incident.

“We believe Dean was walking through Betts Park and, just as he was about to leave via the Croydon Road exit he was shot in his head from behind.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who was in or around Betts Park in Penge on the late evening of Saturday 11 or early into Sunday 12. 

“We are particularly interested in anyone that might have seen or heard anything suspicious between 12.15am and 1am on Sunday, or any time before or after this.

“Anyone who lives in the area, or who was there at that time, may well have information that could assist us tremendously. 

“No matter how insignificant it may seem, we urge you to please get in touch.”

Muslim Accused Of Stalking Tommy Robinson Via Violent YouTube Posts

A YouTuber, accused of posting home-made videos threatening to cut off the head of English Defence League founder Tommy Robinson, appeared in court today.

British national Muhammad Abdul Basir, 24, also mentioned Prince William during the videos made in his south London bedroom, Wimbledon Magistrates Court was told.

Basir, who lives with his parents and was described in court by his defence as having “certain vulnerabilities”, denies the charges and elected jury trial. 

Prosecutor Trevor Green told the court: “On September eighteen, last year police became aware of an anonymous referral regarding a series of videos posted on YouTube by the defendant.”

Titled: ’Tommy Robinson Abdul Basir 5’ the prosecutor explained: The defendant is seen filming himself in what appears to be his bedroom.

“He talks about beating up and assaulting Mr. Robinson, describing him as a street kid who hurts people, while telling Mr. Robinson he will cut his neck off and all his EDL fans.”

The court heard there were further video posts of a similar nature regarding the 37 year-old nationalist activist - real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon.

Basir’s lawyer told the court there was a police bail condition regarding video postings naming Prince William, but there are no charges regarding those.

Basir, of Merrow Court, Phipps Bridge Road, Mitcham is charged with stalking Mr. Yaxley-Lennon between September 13 and 18, last year, causing serious alarm or distress, by posting YouTube videos on September 14 and 16, 2019 threatening unlawful violence.   

He is also charged with racially-aggravated harassment of Mr. Yaxley-Lennon between the same dates by causing fear violence would be used against him.

Basir was bailed to appear before Kingston-upon-Thames Crown Court on August 13 on condition he resides at his home address, does not contact Tommy Robinson and does not post material about Tommy Robinson.

Dog On A Hot Tin Woof: Drugs Canine Sniffs Out Stash In Car Roof Lining

Police drugs dog Stella is celebrating her second big car roof bust after sniffing out the illegal contraband in the vehicle's lining.

On Sunday, June 21 at 4.50pm officers saw a blue Mercedes turn down a side road in Colliers Wood, south-west London on the approach of their police car.

The vehicle was stopped in Warren Road and the officers noticed the driver had three mobile phones.

They carried out a search of the car under the drugs act and found a baseball bat in the boot.

The officers requested for a specialist sniffer-dog to attend, as they believed drugs may be concealed within the car.

Police dog Stella attended and indicated towards the roof.

Officers pulled down the roof lining and found a quantity of suspected class A and B drugs.

A 32-year-old man from Thornton Heath, south London was arrested for suspected possession with intent to supply drugs and possession of an offensive weapon.

He was subsequently released pending further enquiries.
Detective Inspector Alison Foxwell of the South West (SW) Violence Suppression Unit, said: “This is one of many recent examples of the joint working between my team on the SW and our colleagues, whether two legged or the four legged from the dog support unit.

"This excellent work also shows the importance of stop and search in tackling the supply of controlled drugs. 

“Drugs, and the violence often associated with them, is a key priority for my team. 

“We will all continue to work together to find opportunities to disrupt, arrest and bring to justice those who seek to profit from selling controlled substances."

Police dog Stella is five-years-old and was bred by the Metropolitan Police.

This is her second big drugs find in the roof lining of a car in three months.

Traffic cops are hunting a driver, suspected of leading police on a 100mph chase through the streets of east London, after refusing to pull over.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police's Roads and Transport Policing Command (RTPC) are appealing for help to trace 30 year-old Skye Anderson-King.

On Thursday, June 1 the driver of a Black Audi S1 failed to stop for police.

An authorised pursuit was initiated on the A13 Newham Way, Canning Town, and officers pursued the driver, who went through red traffic lights against the flow of the traffic.

The driver reached speeds of 100mph in a 30mph speed limit, posing a substantial risk to other road users and pedestrians in the area.

Due to the dangerous manner of driving and risk exposed to members of the public, the decision was made to end the pursuit in Dock Road, East Ham.

The vehicle was later found abandoned in nearby Renfrew Close.

Anderson-King is known to have links to the Brent and Newham areas.

Detective Superintendent Andy Cox said: “We urgently wish to speak with Skye Anderson-King in relation to an incident in which a driver of a Black Audi S1 failed to stop for police.

“The vehicle reached speeds of 100mph in a 30mph zone at a time when pedestrians and cyclists were present.

“Such driving puts the public at considerable risk and incidents like this are taken very seriously.”

Thrill-Seeking Pervert Locked-Up

A pervert, who police say achieved a “thrill” discussing his child abuse online with an international audience, has been caged.

Roger Vye, 55, of Odsey, Hertfordshire, received sixteen years imprisonment and will remain on parole for an extra five years when released.

Formerly of Dover, Kent he pleaded guilty to the attempted rape of a child under the age of 13; two counts of assaulting a child under 13 by penetration and sexual assault of a child under 13.

He also admitted arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence; distributing indecent photographs of children; making indecent photographs of children; possessing extreme pornographic images and possessing prohibited images of children.

At Woolwich Crown Court Vye was also issued with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which includes preventing him associating with any child under the age of 18 and he will be subject to Sex Offender Registration for life.

Vye was arrested on October 2, last year at a location in London, having arranged to sexually abuse a young child. 

A subsequent search was conducted at an address in Odsey, Hertfordshire and electronic devices were seized and submitted for forensic analysis. 

The analysis confirmed the presence of a large collection of indecent images of children and also confirmed that Vye had a long standing interest in the sexual abuse of children. 

Vye had also distributed some of these images to other offenders online.

Also recovered was evidence linking Vye to the historic sexual abuse of a child, who had been subjected to a prolonged period of abuse, which occurred in 2009 and 2010 in the Kent area.

Detective Constable Jonathan Booty, of the Metropolitan Police's Online Child Abuse and Exploitation team, said: "Firstly I would like to thank the victim for speaking with us, and their bravery and fortitude shown throughout. 

“Roger Vye is a dangerous and repugnant individual, who will now face a significant period away from the general public.

“Vye used social media to enable him to obtain thrills, discussing with other people around the world the horrific abuse of children. 

“He was also partaking in the abuse and was clearly an active offender. The Met will continue to relentlessly pursue online offenders.

"Vye may have more victims, and I would urge any other potential victims to come forward and contact police as soon as possible.’’
