A
hit-and-run driver, who left a young motorcyclist lying dying in the
road, has been jailed for fifty-one weeks.
Mohammed
Asim, 25, of Field End Road, Croydon drove off after colliding with
23 year-old Kamrul Hasan.
He
pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and failing to
stop at the scene of an accident in the early hours of December 29,
last year in London Road, Croydon.
Croydon
Crown Court heard Asim was driving a black Lexus car at approximately
1.00am when he crashed into Barnet man Mr. Hasan.
He
was treated by paramedics but was pronounced dead at the scene at
approximately 1:45am.
A
post-mortem examination took place the next day and gave the cause of
death as a chest injury.
Asim's
car was found abandoned nearby in St James's Road near the junction
of Windmill Road.
On December 30 Asim handed himself in to police and was charged with the offence.
