A
cruel and heartless conman snatched an 85 year-old pensioner's purse
after claiming he was from the council and needed to check her home's
windows.
At
9.30am on Friday, 27November, last year police were called to reports
of a distraction burglary at a residential address on Dagenham
Avenue, Dagenham.
A
man knocked on the door and told the woman that he was checking
windows on behalf of the council.
The
woman let him in and was asked to move her wheelchair into her
bedroom so that he could check her windows for faults.
Curious
to know what he was doing, she went to her hallway to find him going
through her side cabinet.
When
she asked him to leave he grabbed her purse containing £35 and ran
out of the house.
CCTV
in Dagenham Avenue captured a man matching the description of the
suspect.
Police
are keen to hear from anyone who recognises the suspect.
He
is described as a white man, aged in his mid-twenties, wearing a grey
hooded top, blue jeans and black trainers with white stripes.
