Midnight Waterloo Bridge Attempted Rape: CCTV Released

Police hunting a violent wannabe rapist, who attacked a 32 year-old tourist on Waterloo Bridge, have released this CCTV image of the suspect.

The woman was repeatedly punched to the face and body, suffering extensive bruising as she fought the assailant off.

She was attacked as she walked up the stairs at Waterloo Bridge on the north embankment next to Somerset House just before midnight on Friday, June 3.

The suspect attacked her from behind and attempted to rape her.

When she fought back, the suspect eventually fled towards Hungerford Bridge.

Detective Inspector Neil Rawlinson, of the Metropolitan Police's Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command, said: “I urge the public to study the CCTV image carefully and call police immediately with any information that could assist in tracing this man.

“During this violent and determined attack the terrified victim suffered severe bruising to her face and body.

“It is vital that we identify this man without delay.”

The suspect is described as an olive skinned man, around 6ft tall and of slim build.

He had slight facial hair and was wearing a hooded top with white lining and light coloured jeans.
