Football Star Steven Caulker's Boozy Late-Night Arrest

Fined: Caulker
Football star Steven Caulker has been fined again after police were called to him drunkenly hurling objects at passers-by in the street just after midnight.

The 25 year-old QPR centre-half, who has two similar arrests on his record, pleaded guilty yesterday to being drunk and disorderly and was fined £650.

The former Tottenham, Liverpool and Cardiff England international, of Petersham Road, Richmond-upon-Thames says he is “deeply ashamed” of his behaviour.

Prosecutor Miss Mary Atere told Wimbledon Magistrates Court police were called to Clapham Junction Station in St. John’s Hill, Battersea at 12.40am on January 16.

“Officers were responding to reports by members of the public that the defendant was throwing object around, trying to hit members of the public.

“The defendant was seen by the officers to be drunk and disorderly. He was swaying around and acting drunkenly and they viewed CCTV and saw him acting similarly.”

The CCTV footage also showed Caulker pick up a red temporary barrier and try and place it over somebody’s head.

The court heard Caulker, who moved to Cardiff City from Spurs for £8m in 2013, was previously fined for a public order offence and also received a caution for the same offence.

His barrister Miss Sarah Le Fevre said: “He is a young man who is deeply ashamed that he is before the court and is sorry for his very silly behaviour that inconvenienced the public and the police.

“There’s little that can be said beyond the remorse he has shown for that conduct.

“You will see from the means form Mr. Caulker will be able to meet any financial penalty.”

Magistrate Mrs Elizabeth Hopper told him: “You have pleaded guilty and you accept you did the things you did.

“It is the third time you have been in trouble for doing things out in the street you should not be doing and we do not want to see you again.”

Feltham-born Caulker was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £65 surcharge.

The six foot three defender has represented England U-19’s and U-21’s and also played for Bristol City, Swansea City and Southampton.

He has been linked with a move to Russia’s Lokomotiv Moscow this season.
