Brothers Battered In West End: CCTV Released

Police hunting a violent thug after two brothers were attacked in the early hours at a West End cash point have released this CCTV image.

At approximately 4.00am on Sunday, July 15, a 32-year-old man was using the ATM in Burwood Place, near Edgware Road when he was approached by the suspect.

The suspect engaged him in conversation before following him.

He then struck the man across the head, causing him to fall to the ground.

The man's 38-year-old brother went to his aid and was punched in the face, fracturing his jaw.

No property or money was stolen.

The suspect is described as between 25 and 35 years old, 5ft 9ins tall with a beard and glasses.

Detective Constable Samuel Turner, from Westminster CID, said: "I would urge anyone who recognises this man to come forward and speak with us.

“The level of violence he used in these unprovoked assaults is of serious concern and it is important that we identify him."

Anyone with information is asked to contact officers via 101 quoting reference 1729/15July.

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.

Burglary Suspect Caught On Shop CCTV

Police are hunting this suspected burglar, caught on CCTV using bank cards taken during a residential break-in, to buy cigarettes.

Between 11.00am and 18.40pm on Monday, April 16, the address in Avignon Road, Brockley was broken into whilst the homeowners were out.

Four Apple computers, a mobile phone, a bicycle, bank cards and a quantity of cash were taken.

The suspect then used the victims’ bank cards in four shops in Catford to purchase cigarettes via contactless payment.

Officers in Lewisham are investigating.

PC Gerald Baffoe-Bonnie, from the Integrated Offender Management Unit, said: “Following CCTV enquiries in the shops in Catford, we wish to speak to the man pictured in the images in connection with this burglary.

“I would urge anyone with information or who knows of this man’s whereabouts to get in contact.”

No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.

Bostall Heath Rape: E-Fit Of Two Suspects Released

Police investigating the rape of a woman, who got into a car with three strange men, have released this e-fit of two of the suspects.

In the early hours of Sunday, May, 27 a 47-year-old woman was approached by the trio of males in a Ford Ka on Plumstead High Street, with the junction with Church Manor Way.

The victim got into the car voluntarily and was taken to a car park at Bostall Heath on Longleigh Lane where she was raped.

She was then driven towards Plumstead High Street where she managed to run from the car to a nearby address to seek help.

The suspects were not known to the victim.

Detective Inspector Steve Birchall, from the Met’s Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command, said: “This is a rare occurrence and while patrols in that area have not identified any suspects in this case there has been no further such offending.

“If you believe you can identify either of these suspects from the e-fits then please contact the police.”

Anyone who may know the identity of the men shown in the e-fit or has information that may assist the investigation is urged to call police on 101 quoting ref CAD 955/27MAY18 or tweet @MetCC.

Businessman Banned From His £3.8m Home After Chucking Wife's Phone Against Wall

A businessman has been banned from entering his £3.8m South Kensington matrimonial home after throwing his estranged wife’s mobile phone against a wall - damaging the £15 case - during a row.

Company director Gregory Arthur Mihalcheon, 52, found himself being prosecuted after wife Andreia, the named secretary on many of his enterprises, insisted on making a statement to police.

The couple are in the middle of a divorce, which involves a dispute over the ownership of a car, and Mihalcheon has moved into the exclusive The Chilterns development in Paddington Street, Marylebone.

He was charged with causing criminal damage to the phone case at the matrimonial home in Wetherby Place on July 26, but yesterday at Hendon Magistrates Court the prosecution offered no evidence in exchange for Mihalcheon being made subject to an indefinite restraining order.

He is prohibited from contacting Andreia, the mother of their son, 15 and daughter, 10, except via solicitors, social workers, civil mediators and the Family Court. 

He is also prohibited from entering Wetherby Place.

The moustachioed Canadian-born entrepreneur, who was wearing a blue sports jacket, light creme chinos and brown brogue shoes, did not have to give evidence.

Mihalcheon was sleeping alone in the basement of the family home shortly before a row began at 7.20am.

Andreia told police: “He yanked the phone out of my hand and it was so violent I was shocked. He threw the phone across the room into the wall by the fireplace and the phone fell into the fireplace,” the court heard.

“The Crown would say that behaviour is harassment,” said prosecutor Kate Seal. “The Crown Prosecution Service will offer no evidence, but a restraining order is applied for.”

Pushing for a ban on Mihalcheon entering the street where his former home is located, she added: “This complainant would feel far more assured.”

Mihalcheon hired QC David Spens to defend him and insisted he did not intend to damage the phone case or was reckless, insisting he was acting in self-defence.

Magistrate Mr. Adrian Gifford commented: “This is not the high end of domestic abuse by any means.”

He told Mihalcheon: “You have no criminal record, but we have approved a restraining order, preventing you from contacting your wife directly or indirectly, except through a social worker, civil mediation, the Family Court or solicitors.”

Mihalcheon is allowed one visit to the property to collect the rest of his belongings.

He was concerned how the restriction would effect his ability to continue making arrangements to see his daughter, but was assured he could communicate with Andreia as long as this was limited to child access issues.

Andreia left the court alone by a separate exit after her husband and his legal team departed, but did not want to talk about the case.

Olympic Sprint Legend Christie's Son Locked-Up

The drug-dealing son of former sprint star Linford Christie was jailed for four years yesterday for dealing crack cocaine and heroin.

Liam Oliver-Christie, 33, of Lakeside Road, West Kensington appeared on bail at Isleworth Crown Court to change his plea before a scheduled trial next week.

He pleaded guilty to possessing crack cocaine, with intent to supply, on November 9, last year and possessing heroin, with intent to supply, at his home address on the same day.

Oliver-Christie, who has previous drug convictions, had been fighting the case and was due to start a two-day trial on October 1.

He received four years on each count to run concurrently with each other.

Dad Linford won gold for Great Britain in the 100m at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona and was also victorious in the event at World, European and Commonwealth championships.

Liam’s mother is former typist Yvonne oliver, who had a short relationship with the athlete and he has a twin sister Korel.

"Lonely" Detective Stalked Female Cop

A lonely detective constable stalked a female colleague by loitering outside her home and waiting for her at a local bus stop as she travelled to work.

Ironically Jose Lagares, 48, had been confided in by the policewoman after an ex harassed and threatened her and he even tried to influence that investigation.

The father-of-two is based at the Metropolitan Police’s Central North Command Unit, which covers the boroughs of Camden and Islington.

Lagares, of Highfield Road, Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire pleaded guilty to stalking Svetlana Puzovic between September 1, 2017 and August 24, this year.

His lawyer told Wimbledon Magistrates Court, which bailed the officer until October 17 for a probation report: “This is a situation borne out of extreme loneliness rather than any psychological issues.”

Prosecutor Miss Julie Idowu told the court yesterday: “They are both serving police officers and the defendant has attended the complainant’s home approximately ten times.

“He has been seen outside the front and around her address.

“They were friends and had been friends for fifteen years.

“The complainant had a relationship with another officer based in the USA.

“She told this defendant about that relationship, which ended with that individual stalking and threatening the complainant.

“She told the defendant about it and he researched her ex-partner and found his address in the USA and information about him, including his date of birth and photos of him.

“She told him to stop and let the police investigation take its course, but he continued to investigate this matter and asked the officer in the case to send all correspondence to him.”

On New Year’s Day Svetlana spotted Lagares at the bus stop near her Vauxhall home and at 7.40am on April 26 he was outside her address.

She saw him while travelling to work on April 29 and again on May 3 as she travelled to her local gym.

“The defendant would be seen hiding in the stairwell in the building opposite her home,” added Miss Idowu.

“Another time he was waiting at her regular bus stop and got on the bus after speaking to her.”

Lagares has been moved to restricted duties at Charing Cross Police Station and remains on bail on condition he does not contact Svetlana.

Vodka-Drinking Mercedes-Driver Banned For Three Years

A Mercedes-driving mum was caught swigging from a vodka bottle while four times the drinks limit with a two year-old boy sitting on the back seat.

Jo Newberry, 42, an advertising and marketing senior account director was reported to the police by shocked members of the public, who spotted her boozing while sitting in the drivers’ seat.

She pleaded guilty to driving the black 2.1 litre A-Class vehicle in Raleigh Avenue, Tolworth on July 6 with 148 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. 

The legal limit is 35.

Newberry, a graduate of the University of Central Lancashire, also pleaded guilty at Wimbledon Magistrates Court to being drunk in charge of a child.

“At midday police received a call reporting this defendant drinking vodka while at the wheel of her vehicle and with a child present in the car,” said prosecutor Ms Caroline Mungal yesterday.

“The vehicle was parked outside the Sunray NHS surgery and when officers arrived they describe her smelling strongly of alcohol and her speech was slurred.

“The police officers say it was obvious she was not in a fit state to drive.”

CCTV confirmed Newberry had driven to this spot. “Her black Mercedes slowly turned into Raleigh Avenue and pulled over as other vehicles struggled to pass.”

Newberry, of Bruce Hall Mews, Brudenell Road, Tooting Bec was ordered to complete 250 hours community service work, was banned from driving for three years and must attend 16 hours of drink-drive rehab.

For the drunk in charge of a child offence she was fined £330 and ordered to pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

“She is extremely remorseful and very aware how serious this offence is and that she could have endangered her life, the child’s life and other road users,” said Gayle Farrell, defending.

Newberry had just abandoned her plan to drive to Portsmouth to visit her father, suffering flashbacks on the A3 to the time she would often travel to visit her dying mother ten years ago.

“She pulled in where there was a corner shop and bought a bottle of vodka and drank some there and then drove to where she was seen by members of the public.

“Everything just came back and she could not make that journey and her plan was to call her husband and say she could not drive, but the police were called.

“She has depression and anxiety and has tried to combat her own alcoholism. It is a serious problem,” said the lawyer.

The court heard Newberry attended AA meetings before her arrest, sought help from a psychotherapist and her GP and spent two three-week stints in residential detox.

She is now celebrating 55 days of sobriety.

Magistrate Richard Standon told her: “Due to the efforts you have made to address your problem and the fact you are a mother to a young child means we can depart from our usual sentencing guidelines.

“You have taken a lot of steps to address your drinking problem and we wish you success with that.”

Repeat Rapist Jailed Again

A repeat rapist has been locked-up for thirteen and a half years for attacks on a woman two decades ago.

Richard Green, 48, was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

The court heard the victim came forward in 2012.

She explained Green began abusing her when she was aged 19 years-old while they were living together in Chingford, east London between 1997 and 1999.

Green pleaded guilty to four counts of rape; multiple incidents of false imprisonment and causing actual bodily harm.

The victim also suffered a miscarriage during the assaults.

The court also heard Green had already been convicted and imprisoned for rapes on two separate occasions against other women and was jailed for ten years in 2000.

He was then convicted of another rape and in 2012 received a concurrent sentence of six years and three months.

Detective Constable Chris Sains, who led the investigation, said: "This is an historic case stemming back 20 years, but despite the length of time since the incidents Green has been convicted of his crimes.

"The victim has shown a great degree of courage, persistence and determination in securing the conviction, having persevered with the allegation and supporting the police investigation.

"The victim has had to live with this trauma and the absolutely horrendous violence she endured for the years she was under the control of Green and will have to live with these memories of the abuse for the rest of her life.

"Green is a dangerous, controlling and manipulative individual who has been convicted twice previously for rape.

“He will continue to spend a substantial period his life in prison where an individual of his heinous character should be.

"Given Green's history of abusing women it cannot be discounted that there are other victims of his.

“I would urge anyone who has been a victim of Richard Green to contact police - specially trained officers are there to support you."

Croydon Stabbing: CCTV Image Released

Detectives have released the image of a man they urgently want to speak to in connection with an unprovoked stabbing in Croydon.

Police were called to at approximately 3.50pm on Wednesday, July 25 to Selsdon Road.

The victim, a 26-year-old man, told officers that he was sitting outside a property on Selsdon Road when a man walked past in the direction of Brighton Road.

The man suddenly stopped in front of the victim, pulled out a knife from his backpack and lunged at him.

The victim attempted to move away but was stabbed in the chest, close to his right shoulder.

The man then put the knife back in his bag and casually walked off.

Officers took the victim to a south London hospital for treatment.

Detective Inspector David Willis, from Croydon CID, said: “We desperately want to locate this man as he poses a real risk to the public, and maybe, even himself.

“This appears to be a completely unprovoked attack that could very easily have turned into a far more serious incident.

“It is by sheer luck that the victim did not suffer any life-changing injuries.

“If you know who this man is, please call Croydon CID on 07769 922321 or via 101 as a matter of urgency. We urge you not to approach him.”

Hubby Live-Streamed Beating Of Estranged Wife To Pakistan

A violent husband live-streamed online footage of beating his wife to relatives in Pakistan, boasting: “I’m going to kill her today.”

Uber-driver Rahman Ullah, 38, repeatedly struck 34 year-old estranged wife Raja with the heel of his shoe, inflicting two black eyes and mimicked stabbing her with a kitchen knife he grabbed.

He pleaded guilty to assaulting his Tesco-manager wife, causing actual bodily harm, at their former matrimonial home in Lansdowne Road, Croydon on May 9.

The father-of-two received 14 months imprisonment and Recorder Tom Forster told him: “You were engaged in a WhatsApp video call to Pakistan, informing them you were going to kill her.

“Not content with your boorish behaviour you pursued her to the communal hallway and by her hair dragged her back into the flat.

“She was understandably tearful and you tormented her with a knife, repeatedly making stabbing motions towards her and said you were going to kill her.

“She got two very visible black eyes and obvious bruising to the sides of her face. You gave her a brutal beating.

“You used the heel of a shoe as a weapon and used a knife as a weapon to threaten and filmed the whole thing on a phone.”

Prosecutor Faye Rolfe told Croydon Crown Court the couple had been married for thirteen years until splitting twelve months before the attack.

When Ullah arrived to drive their daughter to school he tricked her into handing over the front door key and let himself in.

“His wife was shocked to see him and he was on his phone, making a WhatsApp video call to his mother and brother.

While holding the phone in a self-style he said: ‘I’m going to kill her today.’

“He hit her with the heel of his shoe ten to fifteen times.”

Raja fled the flat barefoot, but only made it to the communal hallway. 

“He dragged her back down the hallway by her hair and she hit her head on the floor,” added Ms Rolfe.

“She is thrown onto the couch and Ullah goes to the kitchen for a knife and makes a stabbing motion towards her.

“He said: ‘I’m going to stab you’ and she genuinely thought she was going to be killed and this was still being filmed.

‘The fact that hit was filmed makes it more humiliating for the victim.”

Afterwards Raja said: “I’ve not been sleeping well. I’m aching all over and have a bruise to my head, where I was dragged by the hair.

“I’m scared to sleep in case my husband gets back in the house to kill me.

“I took a week off work because I did not want to be seen in that state.”

Ullah initially told police his wife was the aggressor and attacked him until eventually admitting his guilty and also being made subject to an indefinite restraining order.
