Internet Bank Couple In Court Over £80K Fraud


A Wolverhampton bank employee, accused of an £80,000 fraud on his employers, appeared with his wife for the first time at City of London Magistrates’ Court today.

Harprit Singh Shari, 27, of Powell Street was a relationship officer with Indian-based Internet bank ICICI.

He faces three counts of fraud by abuse of position in that on various dates between January 31 and February 19, last year he dishonestly abused that position to make a gain of £50,000 and £25,000 for himself and £5,000 for his wife.

Baljit Kaur, 30, is charged with one count of acquiring criminal property, namely £5,000 between January 31 and February 12, last year.

The couple were bailed until March 21 when they are expected to be committed to the Old Bailey.
