Police
are hunting a gunman, who sent a group of men running for their lives
when pointing a firearm at them from the window of a car in east
London.
At
around 9.00pm on May 30, a black Ford Focus carrying several
occupants was driven into Wellington Road, Newham at the junction
with Waterloo Road.
The
vehicle stopped in the middle of the road and a male, described as
black and aged in his twenties, wearing a silver/grey hooded top and
a black jacket, was seen to brandish a firearm at a group of males
from the window of the vehicle.
The
group fled, as well as a number of witnesses who saw the incident.
The
vehicle is believed to have made off in the direction Cemetery Road.
It
is believed it was then driven on to Odessa Road, left into Dean
Street and right Field Road, and then onto Forest Lane.
It
is unknown as to where the vehicle went from there.
There
were no reported injuries and no shots were fired.
Police
are interested in hearing from any of the males who fled, as well as
a female who saw the incident with her child and ran away.
Detective
Sergeant John Macleod of Newham CID is investigating.
He
said: "This
would have been a terrifying incident for all those involved.
“Anyone
who has information can be assured that they can contact us in the
strictest of confidence. Please speak to us so we can catch those
responsible."
