Officers were called to reports of a racially-aggravated assault at approximately 7.35pm on Thursday, December 2 outside West Hampstead Overground station in Heritage Lane.
The victim, a male aged in his twenties, was approached by the suspect who made anti-Semitic comments towards him.
The suspect also damaged a religious display, erected to celebrate the Jewish festival of Chanukah.
The man assaulted the victim while intimating he was armed with a knife.
The victim was not seriously injured.
