Cry Foul: Square Mile Man Stabbed For Dog Mess Objection

A dog owner, who stabbed a man in the Square Mile when he complained about the pooch fouling the pavement has been locked-up.

Franklin Da Silva, 31, was in the heart of the City of London when he violently lashed out with a weapon near Moorgate Underground Station.

He was arrested after an appeal by City of London Police, who released this CCTV image of the incident, asking members of the public if they recognised the suspect.

Detective Sergeant David Honan described the early-hours stabbing as a “knife attack” when asking for people to come forward.

Da Silva, of Peabody Buildings, Errol Street, Finsbury was convicted of inflicting grievous bodily harm on December 16, 2023 near the junction with Ropemaker Street.

He surrendered himself to Bishopsgate Police Station after the much-publicised appeal.

Fortunately the victim’s injuries were not life-threatening.

At Snaresbrook Crown Court Da Silva received thirty-seven months imprisonment for the offence.

He also received fifteen months imprisonment for a separate offence of GBH, which will be added, resulting in a total of four years and four months imprisonment.
