Prison Threat For Abusive David Lammy Emails

A Tottenham Hotspur FC fan, enraged by seeing local MP David Lammy in the club’s executive boxes, sent eight late-night “grossly offensive” drunken emails, a court heard.

Matthew Rumsby, 43, also complained about the Foreign Secretary championing mass immigration into the capital and forcing him out of his home city.

He pleaded guilty to one count of sending eight emails of an indecent or grossly offensive nature for the purposes of causing distress or anxiety to the Right Honourable David Lammy MP.

Hounslow-born Rumsby, of Brettenham Drive, Southend-on-Sea, Essex, was told he may end up in prison for the outburst and was bailed to return for sentencing on February 24.

He is listed as a company director with his family property firm, buying and selling homes and renting them in Essex.

Wearing a dark blue suit, white shirt and blue tie Rumsby only spoke to confirm his name, date of birth and address,

Prosecutor Nathan Paine-Davey told Westminster Magistrates’ Court today: “Eight emails were sent to the office of David Lammy MP.”

They were intercepted by a male intern and reported to the police.

All were sent from Rumsby’s personal email account, which contains his full name and year of birth, between 4.32am and 4.39am.

In the first email he describes father-of-three Lammy, who has been MP for Tottenham since 2000, as a “race-baiting c***.”

“You hate white people,” the email continued. “You and Keir Starmer can suck each other off.”

Rumsby stated he was “p***ed off” that as a Tottenham Hotspur  supporter he saw Lammy and Labour colleagues enjoying the club’s executive boxes. 

“I am just another London-born white guy pushed out of London,” he wrote in a follow-up email. 

“I am forced to live with my 73 year-old dad. I haven’t a pot to p*** in.

“I was born in Hounslow. I hate London and you have pushed us out for immigrants.

“People outside the M25 hate you.”

In his emails Rumsby also complained about a lump on his eye and his local Jobcentre placing him on long-term sick.

“The last Conservative government were a bunch of nob heads. I have lost faith in Labour and the Conservatives.

“I will not be going to any games while you are MP for Tottenham.

“Get Mr Ali to buy you a new pair of shoes. I will buy you a new pair of kicks.”

Rumsby, who has no criminal convictions, but a caution for harassment in 2008, was quickly traced and arrested and admitted he wrote the emails from his account.

“Custody is in mind so I am going to invite you to ask for a pre-sentence report District Judge Tan Ikram told Gerard Shaw, defending.

“That will be on an all-options basis,” said Mr Shaw. “The issues he has are of mental health that up until now he has not been receiving help with.

“He also has issues with alcohol and all of the emails were sent in the early hours when he was severely intoxicated.

“He has been medicating himself with alcohol for his mental health issues.”

The prosecution began at Chelmsford Magistrates Court, but was transferred to Westminster due to the sensitivity of the case and the high profile victim being the current Foreign Secretary.

“Please return here on February 24,” Judge Ikram told Rumsby. “I will grant you conditional bail and make sure you comply with those conditions.

“I am leaving all options open. The focus in this case is on deterrent and punishment.”

Rumsby was bailed on conditions he does not contact Lammy or any other MP or personally visit any parliamentary building or office.”

Woman Punched In Face At Clapham Junction

Police are hunting a female train passenger after a woman was punched in the face at the UK's busiest station.

British Transport Police (BTP) have released this image of their suspect and are appealing to the public to assist them in identifying her.

At approximately 4.30pm on Saturday, October 19, last year the victim was waiting to talk to a member of staff at Clapham Junction when she was punched in the face.

Officers would like to speak to the woman in the image as they believe she may have information which could help their investigation.

Suspected London Underground Fare Dodger Turned Violent

A suspected fare dodger attacked a Transport for London member of staff when challenged at Edgware Road Underground Station.

The victim was struck several times and pushed to the floor.

Just after 4.30pm on Friday, December 13, the member of staff challenged a man walking through the ticket barrier for failing to use a ticket.

The suspected fare evader responded by assaulting the victim.

Transport cops are hunting a violent anti-Semite after a train passenger was verbally abused and assaulted.

British Transport Police (BTP) have released this image of their suspect.

They are appealing to members of the public to assist them in identifying him.

At approximately 11.30pm on Friday, October 4 the victim was waiting on an Elizabeth Line platform at Liverpool Street Railway Station.

A mystery male shouted anti-Semitic abuse at him. 

As the victim walked away the man followed him continuing to shout anti-Semitic insults and then assaulted him.

BTP are treating the incident as an offence of racially-aggravated assault.

Officers would like to speak to the man in the image as they believe they may have information which could help with their investigation.

Locked Up: Gym Bunny Who Preyed On Fitness Club Users

A prolific thief, who targeted gym lockers, spied on the user of a luxury City of London fitness centre and used his PIN to raid the victims' bank account.

Declan Murphy, 35, of Ryder Close, Bromley noted the victim's locker PIN and correctly guessed it was the same four digits for the bank card inside.

He struck at Third Space City in the heart of the Square Mile while on bail for other similar offences and is now starting a twenty-seven month prison sentence.

Now City of London Police have warned gym users to use a different PIN for their lockers from their personal electronic devices and bank cards.

Murphy pleaded guilty at Isleworth Crown Court to three counts of theft and eleven counts of fraud by false representation.

He has also received a Criminal Behaviour Order, banning him from entering certain gyms nationwide.

On Friday, September 13 Murphy watched a man put a four-digit PIN into his locker at Third Space City in Mark Lane. 

Murphy accessed the locker and stole a bank card and then drenched the victim’s phone in water, rendering it unusable. 

The victim came back to the locker and realised that his card was missing and his phone soaked. 

Murphy’s intention was to severely damage the phone by soaking it in water, meaning the victim couldn’t access their banking app or see transaction notifications, allowing him a greater window of opportunity.

The victim wasn’t able to contact their bank after noticing a missed call from them. 

When he eventually was able to call his bank, he was told that Murphy had phoned the bank pretending to be him and was given internet access to the bank accounts.

After stealing the card, Murphy spent £18.20 on the card in a local shop on Byward Street near the gym and then went on to withdraw £500 from a cash machine in Tower Hill Station.

Later the same day, Murphy attempted to purchase £5,400 worth of items from an Apple store.

CCTV placed Murphy at the gym between 8:10am and 9:25am.

In his victim impact statement, the victim said the incident has left him distressed and anxious.

Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Ives, head of the Criminal Investigation Department and Volume Crime Unit at the City of London Police, said: “People who visit gyms expect their belongings to be safe in their lockers and don’t tend to expect anyone to be looking over their shoulder and stealing their PIN. 

“Unfortunately, we know this is a method is used by prolific criminals like Murphy.

“Our message is clear, do not have the same PIN code for your locker as your phone or bank card PINs.

“I want to thank the victims on coming forward and helping us with this investigation. 

“I also want to praise the hard work of our Criminal Investigation Department and Proactive Acquisitive Crime Team which resulted in the arrest of Murphy, who has been brought to justice.”

Murphy also committed the following offences:

• On June 2 he withdrew £1,750 of cash from a Sainsbury’s ATM on Lombard Street, using three different bank cards stolen from a victim at a health and fitness centre on Cousin Lane.

• On Saturday, June 4 Murphy stole from another victim of the fitness centre. The victim said he received a notification message through his banking app that £92.06 was spent in Zara, and there was also an unsuccessful attempt to withdraw £600 in cash.

• Murphy was also found to be using membership cards under false names to gain access to health and fitness centres.

Killer Rapist Jailed For Depraved Park Bench Attack

A rapist, whose prolonged attack took the life of a woman who had passed out on a park bench, has been locked up.

Mohamed Noor Iidow, 35, repeatedly orally raped 37 year-old Natalie Shotter in the early hours.

The brutal, depraved attack caused her to suffer a fatal heart attack and she was left dying on the bench.

Iidow, of St. Paul's Close, Hounslow fought the charges, but was convicted by an Old Bailey jury after a three-week trial.

He received a life sentence and will serve a minimum of ten years and two months in custody before he can be considered for parole.

The body of Natalie was found by a member of the public in Southall Park on Friday, July 16, 2021.

She had been socialising with friends the previous evening and passed out on the bench, where a prowling Iidow targeted her.

Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, from Specialist Crime South said: “Iidow’s predatory attack on Natalie was disturbing and shocking.

"This man drove to the park that night and took advantage of a vulnerable woman, who should have been safe.

“Even after his arrest, Iidow attempted to claim that his actions were consensual.

“This case has deeply affected those involved, due to its rarity and tragic details.

"We needed to prove Natalie’s death was caused by being raped and that involved diligent work using experts in this field to charge and now convict Iidow.

“I commend the strength of Natalie’s friends and family who
have had to listen to these details throughout the trial.”

When reviewing CCTV footage from the night of the attack, detectives discovered Iidow walking past Natalie multiple times before approaching her and raping her repeatedly. 

He then left her on the bench and drove home.

At about 05:42hrs, a member of the public found Natalie unresponsive on the park bench and contacted the police. 

Officers and paramedics attended and she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Through CCTV examination, detectives were able to identify Iidow as a suspect and he was arrested on suspicion of rape at his home in Hounslow on August 4, 2021.

During the police interview, Iidow refused to answer most questions before he attempted to claim that the sexual activity was consensual.

RSPCA Trustee Jailed For £100K Expenses Fiddle

An RSPCA national trustee, who funded his “lavish lifestyle” by swindling the animal charity out of over £100,000 during a five-year expenses scam, received four years and two months today.

David Mawson, 50, enjoyed hundreds of nights in hotels he was not entitled to, plus free taxi journeys, billing all the expenses to the charity.

“You had no need to stay in hotels to carry out your work as a trustee and you were found to be dishonest by the jury,” Judge Matthew Boyle told him at Inner London Crown Court.

“You spent not less than one hundred thousand pounds of RSPCA funds for your own benefit and you did not have national or local permission to spend the money this way.”

Mawson, of Staines Road, Twickenham was convicted of one count of fraud by abuse of position between January 1, 2012 and December 21, 2017. 

“You came to identify your own interests as synonymous with the interests of the RSPCA and in your evidence you appeared resentful of the paid employees of the charity.

“You thought you were entitled to stay in hotels and take taxis as your own reward for your charity work with your emboldened sense of entitlement.”

Mawson was one of only twenty national trustees in the entire country and still complains about the negative publicity he has received during the case.

“He has lived and breathed the RSPCA since his first involvement as a teenager and it represents a big part of his life,” said Greg Unwin, defending.

“He has spent thirty years of his life in service to this charity and it has ended ignominiously. The loss of his good character and reputation, plus the media coverage is an element of punishment alone.”

Mawson swindled £91,300 from the London South East Branch of the RSPCA on Premier Inn stays, plus over £10,000 in taxi journeys, but maintains that charity is not “particularly vulnerable” because it enjoys a £150m annual income.

“He was a very active and important member of the RSPCA,” said Mr Unwin of the defendant, who still claims many of the expenses he defrauded were legitimate.

Prosecutor Andrew Hallworth told the trial: “It was a fraud committed by Mr Mawson when he was a trustee of the RSPCA, so this was a serious breach of trust by him.

“It was a fraud that was committed on a regular basis and involved Mr Mawson fraudulently using the charity’s bank card to fund his own lavish lifestyle to obtain free hotels and free taxi rides.

“He had no right or permission to do what he did, despite anything he may say to the contrary and as such he acted dishonestly throughout.”

The RSPCA London South East Branch (SELB) has three charity shops in West Norwood, Grove Park and Sydenham and Mawson was the SELB Secretary since 2009.

“He exercised control over the SELB’s bank accounts and was, we say, more active in the daily running than others, anyway more busy than he would admit,” said the prosecutor.

Mawson typically booked Premier Inn rooms and spent over £18,000 on the SELB Barclaycard; over £43,000 on a Co-Op debit card and over £29,000 on a CAF Bank corporate account, the trial heard.

Between 2013 and 2017 Mawson  enjoyed a total of 436 nights at various Premier Inn’s paid for by the RSPCA’s accounts.

“However the true number is likely to be much larger as individual payments through the bank statements may represent more than one nights’ stay,” explained Mr Hallworth.

“There was no charity business going on that would justify these hotel stays or taxi journeys.”

Taxi firm Addison Lee received over £10,000 from RSPCA accounts for journeys booked by Mawson.

Eventually the police were alerted by SELB Chair Gerda Glage and her husband Ivan House and accountants completed a full forensic audit of their accounts between 2012 and 2018.

Mawson was removed from his RSPCA post in September, 2018 and later questioned by police officers.

“He claimed that it was no secret that he was using charity funds for hotel and taxi expenses and that he submitted relevant claims.”

The prosecution also produced a map of unnecessary taxi journeys billed by Mawson.

Mawson said a “dodgy neighbour” who had at least one spell in prison resulted in Premier Inn allowing him to stay for additional nights.

However, Mawson never called the police about any issues with the neighbour, said the prosecutor. 

The court heard a victim impact statement from the SELB, which said the losses were equivalent to homing 255 cats and neutering 1000.

There had been a 75% cut in the number of animals the SELB were able to assist and the fraud had “damaged the morale of the RSPCA” and brought the respected charity into disrepute.

Judge Boyle told Mawson, who does not work and lives on disability benefits: “The damage done to the SELB was substantial. That money could have been used to assist large numbers of animals and their owners.

“There is clear damage to the morale and finances of the charity, but even now you still lack insight into the scale of your dishonesty and downplayed your behaviour to the Probation Service.

“This was sustained offending over a period of time and was relatively sophisticated, using multiple means to extract money from the charity.

“This was a very serious breach of trust,” added the Judge, conceding: “When you were not offending the charity you were doing good work for it.”

First-time offender Mawson was told he would be paroled after completing 40% of the custodial sentence.

Woman Molested At Moorgate Underground Station

A woman has been sexually assaulted while on the platform of Moorgate Underground Station.

A teenage female, who was molested on a London Underground train, was pursued onto another service and molested by the same man.

At approximately 8.15am on Thursday, December 5 last year the teenager was travelling on a Metropolitan Line train between Finchley Road and Baker Street.

She was sexually assaulted by an unknown male and boarded a second train travelling between Baker Street and King's Cross.

The same man followed her and molested her again.
