Operation TITAN Dethrones Another City of London Drug Dealer

Another City of London drug dealer has been caught by Operation TITAN officers after behaving suspiciously in the Square Mile.

Cocaine, LSD, ecstasy and magic mushrooms with a £6,000 street value were hidden inside the locked centre console of a vehicle.

Andrei Gherghe, 36, of Abbey Street, Plaistow was stopped in Eastcheap by the Targeted Intercept and Tactical ANPR team (TITAN) on October 11.

Officers searched the vehicle he was driving and a police drugs dog indicated something suspicious behind the centre console armrest.

The flooring of the console was hinged with an electromagnetic lock, allowing the flooring to be lifted, creating an ideal hiding place for the drugs.

During the search a lock knife was also discovered.

At Inner London Crown Court Gherghe pleaded guilty to possessing Class A drugs, with intent to supply, and received two years imprisonment.

Detective Constable Emma Martin said: We will do everything we can to disrupt and stop drugs supply in the City of London, which cause so much harm in our communities.

City of London Police officers will proactively target offenders and this sentencing should be a warning to those involved in drug dealing, you will be arrested, charged and sent to prison.”

Gherghe also pleaded guilty to possession of an article with blade or point in a public place, possession of Class B drugs, driving without third party insurance and driving whilst disqualified.

He was also disqualified from driving for two years.
