A tube train passenger smashed a wine bottle over the head of another passenger – causing deep cuts – after the victim refused his offer of a drink.
British Transport Police (BTP) have released this CCTV image of their suspect.
Officers are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the unknown male.
The victim was travelling on an Eastbound Piccadilly Line Underground train he boarded at South Ealing station at approximately 2.00pm on January 9.
He was approached by a man, who offered him alcohol.
The victim turned down the offer, and the man became abusive and aggressive.
As the victim departed the tube train at Hammersmith Underground station, the man struck him on the head with a wine bottle, causing it to shatter on impact.
He suffered deep cuts to his head requiring emergency medical attention in hospital.
Detectives believe the man in the images could have information that may assist their investigation.
